I started doing Yoga in 1975 in India,
when I was nineteen. My first Yoga class was love at first sight,
and I still feel as passionate about it now as I did then. It
came naturally to me—my body intrinsically understood the
principals of Yoga without me having to think much about it. I
started with Iyengar Yoga and practiced every day for a year at
the ashram, where I was living. After a year, my teacher left
the ashram and I began to teach the class myself, and did so for
the next four years.
Since then I have studied and practiced, many different styles and techniques, including Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Sivananda, Power, Bikram and Forrest Yoga, as well as Iyengar Yoga. I have studied with many talented and famous teachers including Ana Forrest, Patricia Walden, Rodney Yee, Shiva Rea, David Swenson, Doug Swenson, Baron Baptiste, Sarah Powers, and many others.
I completed a 200 hour teachers' training in Ashtanga Yoga at "It's Yoga" in San Francisco. I participated in a very inspiring Advanced Yoga Teacher Training, with Ana Forrest, in Forrest Yoga. I have also taken Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with Rodney Yee. I am registered with Yoga Alliance at the highest level, which is E-RYT 500.
I have taught yoga in many different places and situations, from an ashram in India to the most exclusive spa in the country, Canyon Ranch in The Berkshires, Mass. I am convinced that Yoga is, as Mr. Iyengar calls it, a path to holistic health. Yoga, practiced regularly, will make you strong, supple, radiantly healthy and give you a deep sense of well-being.
I founded Frog Lotus Yoga in March 2002 and it was a great pleasure to own and direct a beautiful home for Yoga. Whilst at the studio, I designed, in conjunction with October Cellana, one of my fellow teachers, a comprehensive Yoga Teacher Training program and have been teaching six of these Intensive YTT's a year, both at the studio and in exotic locations overseas. We now have more than 500 graduates of our program and receive many referrals. I love teaching these training very much as it gives me the freedom to share my passion for all aspects of yoga, including the philosophical and metaphysical dimensions. The training is a source of ongoing wonder and joy to me as it grows and evolves and allows me to birth so many amazing fledgling teachers. And in the process of teaching the training I also grow and learn so much myself.
In October 2008, after having become increasingly engrossed in the YTT Retreats Internationally, I passed on the torch to Jennifer Yarro, who is the new owner and director of the Studio. I am staying on in the capacity of Founder and Director of Frog Lotus Yoga International Teacher Training Programs. I will be found traveling the world teaching in exotic locations. You can always look for me on the Teacher Training Pages of this website. I am very excited to devote myself solely to the training of new Yoga Teachers and my mission is to spread the life-transforming teachings of Yoga and the joyful physical practice around the world. Jennifer is a wonderful successor as the studio Director and I have also endorsed Jennifer to teach the Frog Lotus Yoga Teachers Training at the studio. Jennifer will also be assisting me in some of the International trainings.
