Allison discovered yoga while in the Peace Corps in Panama. "Peace Corps Volunteers have a tremendous amount of time on their hands. After stretching during the morning behind my mud hut, I noticed that I felt much more relaxed throughout the day. No small task since I was a complete stress-case during that time of my life," she says with a laugh. A native of North Adams, Massachusetts, Allison began taking yoga classes when she returned to the United States in 1997 when, struggling to recover from an infectious virus, she turned to meditation, Reiki and Yoga. "The doctors couldn't figure out what I had so I began exploring alternative medicine and healing. Looking back on it, being sick for an extended period of time was one of the best things that have ever happened to me. It wasn't easy, but it forced me to consider the connection between the mind, body and spirit. I didn't know then that Yoga would become such an integral part of my life." Allison completed the Yoga Teachers Training program at Frog Lotus Yoga in 2007. She has taken yoga classes in Madrid, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, Boulder and New York City. Her personal yoga practice blends Hatha Yoga, Power Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga. She teaches primarily Hatha Interdisciplinary Yoga at Frog Lotus. Allison also teaches both Spanish and yoga part-time at Williams College and lives in Williamstown, MA with her fiancé Daniel and their cat Panama.
