Carolyn Cohen is a Bodyworker, Acupuncturist, and Instructor of Vinyasa Yoga, AcroYoga, Thai Massage, and Anatomy. She began studying yoga in 1993, embracing the practices of Kundalini, Ashtanga, Bikram, Vinyasa, and Bhakti along her path, including 9 years intensive study and apprenticeship in Bhakti Flow (with Rusty Wells).

After 12 years of practice, she felt called to teach in 2005. She is blessed to receive inspiration from such modern mystics as Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Shiva Rea, Janet Stone, Rusty Wells, Angela Farmer, Ed Clark & Dharma Mittra in her continual evolution as a teacher and yogini.

Carolyn holds degrees in Psychology (B.A.), and Chinese Medicine (M.S.), and has maintained a private practice for Acupuncture & Bodywork for the past 6 years in San Francisco. Specialties include musculo-skeletal injuries, digestive dis-ease, immune enhancement and preventative care. Her bodywork experience spans over a decade and includes training in Deep Tissue, Swedish, Tui Na, and Thai Massage (ITM, Chiang Mai, Thailand, 2002).

She has teaching certificates in Contact Yoga (with Nateshvar Ken Scott) and Prana Vinyasa Flow (with Shiva Rea). She co-developed the practice of AcroYoga in 2005 and has traveled to Asia, Europe, and across the United States teaching workshops and co-facilitating teacher trainings in this transformative work. Teaching highlights include Yoga of Food workshops, AcroYoga & Thai Massage retreat at Kripalu , and Anatomy modules for Bhakti Flow trainings and AcroYoga trainings.

In 2008, she journeyed to India and studied the Siddha Lineage of Yoga, Kriya & Meditation with her teacher, Maharshi Arvind (Maharastra, India). With her teacher’s blessings, she was initiated into the Path of Divine Life lineage and authorized to teach Budhshutti Kriya & Meditation.

In May 2009, she moved to Lambertville, NJ with her partner, Vincent Peterson, to create a wellness center offering services and education in holistic healing, sustainability, vegetarian food, and yoga.

Carolyn infuses her classes with pranayama, playful reverence and joyful precision, with the aim to cultivate awareness, attention to alignment within flow, a strong body and mind, and clarity of the divine light within. She is honored to guide students through the moving meditation of asana as a vehicle for personal growth, liberation and acceptance and blessed to assist clients on their healing journeys. She is pleased to join the esteemed teachers and students at FLY for this Teacher Training.
